Women of the ELCA

Our Mission - To mobilize women to boldly act on their faith in Jesus Christ. Our mission is to proclaim the Good News in all that we do. When God calls us to do something, God is always in partnership with us to get it done.
Purpose Statement - As a community of women created in the image of God called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
Monthly Meeting - Women of the ELCA meet once a month for Bible study, organization updates, and fellowship. The meeting is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month.

Committees
• Bridal Shower: Available to help celebrate a marriage with a shower or a monetary gift.
• Christmas Tea: Held annually and open to all members and their guests. This tea is an opportunity to enjoy delicious cookies and fellowship.
• College Student Care Packages or gift cards: provided to college students to show support from their church family during finals week.

• Relay for Life: Coordinated by a WELCA member, a group of volunteers from our Congregation form a team to raise funds for cancer research. Each member of the team seeks sponsors to support them financially as they walk in the Relay for Life. Luminaries are provided at the event to represent members and loved ones of our Congregation who are victims or survivors of cancer.

Projects
• Annual Bazaar: This is open to the community and held annually. Baked goods and crafts are available for purchase, and for a very reasonable price brunch and lunch are served.
• Best Choice Labels: Labels are collected from members and friends. Each year they can be exchanged for a cash reward from the Thriftway Corporation.
• Community Dinners: Dinner events are available upon request. The Lion's Club Ladies Appreciation Dinner is an example of a dinner regularly held at Grace.
• Cookbooks: Books are made up of donated recipes from members and friends of the congregation. Our current cookbook was completed in December of 2010. "Cooking With Grace" has over 600 sweet and savory recipes and sells for $18.00.
